Try to figure it out based on pictures by Artur Biernacki or klnothincomin. They got it pretty spot on. I think rdrutel's video does a very good job at uncovering the mechanics of the wing feathers. He got the tips right anyhow.

If you're talking about version 3.5, the diagram does an excellent job at solving the base, but once again fails in the finishing.
WOW, thanks heaps so can i fing he pics of Artur Biernacki or klnothincomin in the search? if so what is the word to search on?

thanks :D

to all the phoenix feticists out there: i don't have any diagram of the phoenix, so please don't pm me asking for them.

this is getting really absurd.
weeks ago chesslo was pretty desperate for info and, naughty me, i thought: let's help the poor mate, he seems kinda new to the internet and honest in his pursue.
a quick use of an ed2k connection and voilà, the diagrams went to chesslo along with a boring remark of the importance of legality etc. (!)

this is the story, but: i don't give a frak about the birdie, it was only a gentle act of my soft heart, and actually i changed laptop witout backup (arg), so i don't have them anymore.
and since i'm no fairy godmother, please don't expect me to redo the phoenix quest.

i'd like to add some remarks but i'm in no mood for violence now.

Sometimes people just don't get the point when their posts are being edited... #-o

Hey everyone, if someone is as nice and gives you diagrams legal or not, please don't tell it in a public place like this Forum. Not only can you get him into big troubles because of copyrights etc. but it will also be very annoying to him to get lots and lots of requests.
Pointing with a finger at someone who wanted to help you isn't nice and he will surely learn and don't do such things again.

So if someone asks you where you have it from just answer: "I've got it from a friend."

thanks a lot anna, if we ever meet i'll cook for you.
(better as a cook than a folder, so it's bearable :) )

it's a difficult road to legality when there's so much at stake. and around.
i do apologize for me evil wayz 8)

(most of the time the lesson is: better avoid it next time)

ufff you'd better wise up janet weiss

Good for you John!

Now perhaps you can finally complete the phoenix on your own.
Collapsing the head is pretty straightforward. I've already given you lots of hints a couple of months ago. If you only follow those hints, you'll easily figure it out.

Now, let's see some photos. :D I hope you've gotten a camera by now.

Cheers!

Tarasilk,
After all of this discussion I'm suprised that you posted a link to these diagrams. If you choose to use diagrams that are distributed without the consent of the model's author is your own business, but if the forum allows unauthorized diagrams or scanned copies of books to be posted, they could be shut down for copyright infringement. As you can see, it becomes more than just your decision at that point. Please remove the link in your post. We all want to be able to keep this forum available.
Thank You.

Are unofficial diagrams illegal? I know to make copy of existing book and put it here is illegal. But what if I will fold model from CP and then will diagram model and put diagrams here? Is it illegal too? So then should be illegal all pictures to show how to colapse CP and also some photo diagrams etc etc ...

i think this is a very grey area. complex origami, compared to most other art forms, is still in its infancy, and the "official" legalities regarding situations such as this are not yet clear. be that as it may, i think it is always better to err on the rights of the creator. while most ppl would not necessarily agree or know that is a illegal to make diagrams from a cp (especially since the cp was released by the author), i think most ppl would agree that it is unethical.

Grey it definitely is. The area that makes it hard is if a designer creates a new model and only provides a CP without ever planning to create a diagram due to the time and energy it takes to create it. I think the best solution in this case is to ask the designer for permission to distribute the diagram you created of his/her design. It would not be the designer's instructions but would be approved for free distribution.

DaVinci painted the Mona Lisa, but it is ok to buy a Paint by number and paint your own version. Is it exactly the same way that DaVinci would have painted it? No. Does it look exactly the same? No. Is it following the same general outlines? yes.

I don't really have a strong opinion on this matter. I can see both sides of the argument. I just wanted to voice another perspective that might help in the discussion.

We've had this discussion before elsewhere... bottom line is, we don't have Kamiya's permission, and I don't why the link hasn't been removed yet.

The thing that annoys me most is that Kamiya is most likely diagramming this piece for his new book, but what happens if his models are already diagrammed? Fewer people are going to buy his book and the time and resources he spends getting it publish returns less. In the end it's stealing.
