Dollar bills are very good origami paper. They're fairly thin, crease very crisply, and are almost impossible to tear. And they're getting cheaper every dayWashi wrote:I wonder why Won uses his precious ol' money for his origami anyway?

Won Park's Koi is one of my favorite things to fold out money. Here's a picture of one, along with my other two favorites. (Click to enlarge)

0) Thanks!
1) The dragon is also Won Park's. Or more precisely, I should say that the dragon is something like Won Park's. It's made out of $2, not just $1. He once showed me more or less how he folded the "base", and I've tried to do the details and the shaping like he does. But he is more patient than I am.
I think he also has a slightly different way of doing the legs/toes than what I've done, and also does a bit more shaping of the body and neck to make it look more scaly. Also I made some modifications to the head because I wanted more horns. For comparison, here is a photo of one that Won Park folded himself:

I eagerly await Won Park's book so we can all start folding his dragons the way he intends.
2) There is a thread around here somewhere for the Mooser train which we can revive if needed. The CP is available in Robert Lang's "Origami Design Secrets."

Re: Won Park - Dollar Bill Koi
How to go about folding Won Park's Koi with another currency bill that has different dimension ratios?
EDIT: I used a HK hundred (not as long as US dollar), 15.35 x 7.65cm
I added the diagonal scale folds to the head and tail to match the dollar, however the tail turned out to be too big proportional -wise, which made the koi look more like a gold fish instead....
How can I change it so the body is longer?

EDIT2: I made the tail shorter by using only 2 diagonal pleats for creasing, not sure if the compensation is too much now....
