In case my post was not clear, the paranthetical remark about 20 million dreadlocks was a joke...... Kinda enphasizing that there are a lot of dreadlocks, not six...

I know, but wouldn't it have just been easier to say that there are about thirty?

Okay, here's pictures of the finished product. I've actually had it done for a couple of days, but my computer crashed, so I haven't been abel to post it till now.

I think the reason I only used six dreadlocks has to come down to, fist of all trial and error, and second, artistic expression. I attempted to use more dreadlocks in my initial design, and I did not like the result it gave me. They were too short for the overall size of the head, too thick to be manipulated into place easily, and just overal bad looking. So I decided to go with a smaller number becuse, in my experience, origami is supposed to give a representation of a form, not duplicate it. I wanted the head of my predator to appear to anyone who saw it (and first of all knw what predator was) as the face of the predator. I don't think it came down to a number of points, it just comes down to creating that look of thick hanging dreadlocks. In short, I tried more dreadlocks, and I liked this result better.

Oh, I would love to make a crease pattern, but since my computer is currently not working, I may be delayed slightly, in my posting of one. I will try to get it posted, though, as soon as I get my computer back.

My next attempt at this model, is for a frined, he wants a larger one (I used 8 inch squares for this, I'll use 16 for his) and I think I'm going to do some slightly different things, as far as pose, color and weapons go. I'll try and get a picture of it up, eventually.

Quite nice, good job!
How many squares? four?
It looks like your predator is missin some fingers on his right had... a battle scar?

I am working on a new draft of my predator, hopefully I'll get some time to fold it. I am going to pattern it more of a maskless predator, instead of one with head armor (like yours zerobar). It will have a color change plate skirt, and some shoulder armor... if all goes well that is

Zerobar, didn't you say that you had never designed something before? Because, if so, that's pretty good for a first design! :D

Just a word of advice: when you edit it, be sure to add a bit more color... the only color right now is in the dreadlocks, and that makes it look a tad drab

Very good design :)
I´m also interested in how many pieces you´ve finally used.
About cupcakes comment regarding colour: I absolutely disagree, the colourchanged dreadlocks are pretty nice and every further colourchange would just draw off the attention from the pretty detailed parts of the model.

And, looking over the model again, over half of the model is color changed, look closely! There is the the pure white color, and there is a greyish color. So, all you needs is more defined colors....But I agree with Anna for the most part, the color changes might draw away from the details.

Cupcake, he said this was his first attempt at designing from a CP. He already created his own Alien.

Great job on the predator, Derek! Is that six pieces?

A few suggestions: Better contrast of color, a darker, more metallic grey, and a not-white color for the skin. By making one hand have fingers, you've kind of required the other hand to too. I would either edit the right arm to have fingers or, shape fingers/fists into each hand, like in Hojyo's Maitreya.

Very nice color-changes on the legs.

Wow! I must really not have been paying attention! I didn't see the color change or notice that he has designed more than one model before  Sorry about that

At long last, a presentable model. Predator 3

CP Here

I fixed the plate skirt problem, it is now color changed. I added some shoulder armor. I changed the head to look more like a predator without the mask, so it has some mandibles and eyes. I also fixed the "hair coming out of the neck" problem by making the neck river two units instead of one. On the whole I am pretty pleased with the model since it is now taking shape.

So long, and keep folding.

Hey, hopefully, my computer gets fixed here pretty soon, so I can chekc more regularly. Just gonna clear up a few questions.

The model is folded from six pieces of paper, although, it could be done from five. the dimensions are: four 1 by 2 rectangles, and two 2 by 2 squares. I lucked out, since it was pretty easy to measure and the ratios were close, so I think it probably would work fairly well as a one piece model, if I could fit it into a suitable grid.
It is color changed, but the armor is grey/silver and the body is white. I wanted a color close to the pred in the first movie, and that was the closest I could work out. It is a little more noticable in normal light, but I do wish it had a little more contrast. I'm making another one for a friend, and I'm going to use a different pose/ weapons and coloring. I painted some paper, to get the color I want. The skin is significantly brighter and splotched, like the pred from the second movie. I should have it completed relatively soon, so I'll get pictures up.
The right hand is supposed to be in a fist. Since I took the pictures of it, I tweaked it into looking a little more like a fist. I just didn't notice it, when I took the pictures.
One of the byproducts of my attempt to make a one piece body, was I stumbled upon a base to make my next new design...

DOCTOR DOOM!!

It shold lend well to the shape of his costume, and I'll post pictures, once I attempt it.

Aznman: your pred's looking pretty good. the face looks nice, I like the new dreadlock revisions.
