Sorry, I guess that wasn't clear. What I meant was reversing the direction of creases (ie mountain to valley.) After folding a Lang grasshopper from paper several times (to become familiar with all the steps), I tried it with the foil. I ended up with a crumpled mess.

I will try your "white side up" technique to see if it helps me learn to work with the material. For display, of course, the foil looks much better on the outside (who ever heard of a white grasshopper?)
