My first design
Hi,
After getting about half way through Lang's Design Secrets book I wanted to design my first Origami. After about a month working on it, this is what I have so far (I had to use a scanner I have no camera)

This is the first time I've folded this version of it (with the teeth), the teeth on the top are actually thinner and the body is rounded, the scanner just squished them out.
I'm not posting here to brag, but looking for constructive critisism. I want to add another couple teeth to the bottom jaw and fold the claws on the feet more realisticly, what do you think?

Very nice, what I would work on next is maybe adding a little detail to the arms, so they don't look so bland. Other than that, I think it looks pretty good!

Or, if not a CP, post a version folded from paper, not foil. It would be easier to see the structure of the piece that way.Jonnycakes wrote:Very cool-nice first design! If you post a CP, it could be possible to get some even better comments (especially about how to add more teeth).
Yes, I am that Joseph Wu. Not that it really matters. And please call me Joseph or Joe. "Mr. Wu" is my dad.

Seriously. All I can tell is that you "cheated" on the hind legs. I'm guessing you made the teeth by sinking some thick interior flaps? And from what I can see, you used point splits for the toes.
A number of us are pretty fluent in CPs, and at recognizing design components, so if you post a CP, we may be able to help.

Your first design is really good! It is clearly visible, that master Lang's book is great class-book.
at first, I have two suggestion: fold it from standard paper (as noted Joseph) and try to use camera instead of scanner.

here is a sloppy hand drawn cp to the first version of the t-rex (i was not satisfied with it because it looked like every other origami t-rex, which is what led me to teeth)
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk23 ... rex1cp.jpg
i later reduced the amount of claws by 1
i added teeth to it by a complex box pleating i'm not sure how to descibe, with this box pleating i was able to make the claws on the front without point splitting them, to add more teeth i add another box pleat
i only had one cp for the one with teeth which i used to fold it, i'm folding a second one now to get the creases (i just can't take apart my first one ;p)
i would like to fold it with regular paper but unfortantly all i have is lined, graph, and blank paper which can not fold this model
