on of the obvious ones is ryujin 3.5 another one of my favorites is roman diaz's more complex owl. i also like sebastian arellano's dragon. (in case you are wondering it is the one diagrammed in OUSA's 2011 convention book.)

The tree frog by Robert Lang
Re: what is your favorite model
I think I'm going to chime in with the Kawasaki rose. It isn't the most complex, but I think it is amazing for its level of difficulty, and wanting to be able to make one is one of the reasons I got as far down the origami road as I have.

Re: what is your favorite model
hmmm, my favorite model is usually the one i have just folded, which right now happens to be roman diaz's horse, he has an amazing rendition of it on his website. As for my favorite model of all time...Shadow Ninja is amazing, even though it is from a rectangle, but then again ryujin 3.5 is perhaps the epitome of origami

If it's just mountain and valley folds, how hard could it be?

Re: what is your favorite model
oh, no offense taken, ive always seen as origami as being a square, as it is a greater challenge because of the paper distribution will be different. I tend to respect models more if they are from a square, 'cough' ryujin 3.5 'cough' but there are a lot of cool rectangle models, such as black forest cuckoo clock and shadow ninja

It's true for me too. The one I work on become my most favorite model too. I am currently working on venetian mask. Though venetian mask was my passion from the start. Have anyone else done it?tryingtofoldsumthing wrote:hmmm, my favorite model is usually the one i have just folded, which right now happens to be roman diaz's horse, he has an amazing rendition of it on his website.
