Yes, just keep alternating reverse folds--the main difference between the first and second peacock is just the number of reverses in the tail.

It works!

But the paper is starting to tear in the center, I will try to finish this one for practice then I'll get better paper and post a picture when done Might take a while as I should be studying for exams!

I had the same problem when I first tried it--don't worry about the center if the tear is just a small hole, because there will be a few folds later that will cover the whole up, on both the front and back later, if I remember correctly.

Had a break today so took the opportunity to try fold the peacock, it is not as precise as I would have hoped for but I intend to refold it in the future with nicer paper for display.

This is my first high intermediate fold so overall I am happy with the result!

Do you think this model would work with delux washi paper?
I'm thinking if it would work it would have a nice effect...

Although this has already been discussed, the sequence 57-58-59 is still very unclear to me. I managed to get to 56 (with full model, that is version 2), and now I am practicing with quicly folded version 1 models in order to master it before going with version 2...

I follow the diagrams from the english version "Genuine Origami".

I thing I understand step 56 : open two layers. The one on the left (with color showing) gets hidden on the back left of drawing 57. Or so I presume.

Step 57 seems ok : when unfolding at step 56, an edge appears and I mountain-fold it. It is 2 square long. Half of it was already in view at step 56, the other half (on the left in diagram 57) has been released at step 56.

Now my big problem is step 58. First, I do not understand the picture : I assumed that the top edge of 58 was the mountain-folded edge from 57, but if so then the bottom part of my model is not as on the drawing (the feathers part is tilted on the right, and I do not see what is the half-colored square on the drawing). Also, I am not sure to understand the valley folds marks : are the two that are on plain sight connected, or not ? It does not appear so on the drawing, but then it looks a bit impossible... And how long should be the one that is half hidden ? Where would theses lines stand on the previous drawing (57) ?

Any help would be very welcome. I am sure that the fold is not complicated to do once understood...

I managed to complete steps 57-58-59 for the small peacock (version 1), but was totally unable to replicate the same moves for version 2, whose geometry looked slightly different and nothing worked... Many hours of folding ended up in small ball of paper, out of despair...
