Re: Origami Canada Convention 2012
Great to see. I had really wanted to make it to this, but was unable due to my teaching schedule. How was the turnout? Looks like a lot of cool stuff going on. Thanks for the post.

Re: Origami Canada Convention 2012
I had been looking forward to it when I first heard about it in 2010 I think, since I hadn't been to a convention in years, but life intervenes (met a girl, got married, and a month before the wedding she was diagnosed with cancer). I was kind of hurt by the emphasized exclusive nature of the convention, but I'm glad it went well, and I see many familiar faces in the crowd. Congratulations on being one of the special guests .

I love the ducks, looks like Giang Dinh's work?

I'm not sure, most of the stuff wasn't labeled :/Joe the white wrote:I love the ducks, looks like Giang Dinh's work?

The figure watching them seems like his work, but it could also be Hoang Tien Quyet's work. Since he was influenced by Giang, it might have been a homage to that.

You don't do things in half measure, apparently. Good luck.

Re: Origami Canada Convention 2012
Thanks, she is a pretty special lady. We were looking forward to visiting Canada for the first time, but perhaps by the next convention or two (currently her cancer is metabolically inactive, so we'll probably be up for it by then). We both have a love of Asian cultures, so Vancouver looks like a lot of fun.

You should hit up CenterFold next year. Less travel, and way cheaper. Glad to hear about the young lady, I hope things continue to go her way.

The ducks are definitely Giang Dinh's. He folded one at lunch on Friday and it is a slight variation of his Penguin.
There are several close up photos of the Duck here:

How can I obtain a copy of the Convention book for this convention? Thanks

My guess is that you should contact Joseph Wu, either through his website or through facebook. Not sure if the are still available, but he should know.
