Destroyed model

Post by Eamon »

Has anyone ever had one of their models destroyed? I remeber, the first time I made the ancient dragon and it took me three weeks to make. I brought it to a family gathering to show it to one of my cousins. I set it down for a minute and one of my littler cousins ripped off a leg  . Has anyone else had a model destroyed, either by themselves on accident or by someone else?

Yes.

-Satoshi Kamiya's Pegasus, my first one ever, unfolded by my then-6-year-old brother
-An old design of mine, a Diatryma bird, unfolded by someone at school
-More than one small model dropped in the dirt by people
-A Hideo Komatsu fox (?) basically shredded--I'm thinking chewed up
After the fall, we rise.

My cats mostly destroy my models. I got two boxes I keep my doodles in and the best models are on the ledge of my mirror so the cats (or cousins) can't reach them.
Then again, when a tesfold doesn't work out I throw them on the ground for my cats to play with, so I thaught them myself that they can hit them across them across the livingroom..... that wasn't to smart of me.

Make some models and put them in my [late] hamster's cage. She would shove them in her cheek after breaking them apart. Then they would come out as her bedding she'd use in her nest.

Awwwww, so cuttteeeee! :D

My cat is the devil. She always attacks my models, and I have learned to keep them in a drawer.

Arthur Brienacki's Scorpion, its tail ripped by someone at library (during origami meetup).
Ekaterina Lukasheva's Futurica. All of the modular pieces detached each other when my cousin comes to my room.

A local art association displayed one of the first models I designed in their front window. The problem was, it was right by the door (left open for hours at a time) with the fan on inside. Of course, my model blew away and was never seen again... Oh well, I've folded much nicer things since then.

I have never really gotten anything super hard destroyed. About 2 and a half years ago, I folded a beetle (to me at the time was SUPER complex) and my mom crushed it before throwing it out... She didn't know what it was tho XD I also made one of Jeremy Shafer's flasher supremes PERFECTLY, and one of my friends opened it wayyy to much and I had to throw it out.

P.S. Those things happened over a year ago XD

A small part of me dies everytime someone just unfolds a model, then passes it back to me to fix!

Last night I folded Kamiya's frog, till 2:3o AM, Using one of the two sheets I made with some florest tissue that some flowers where wrapped in. Took me three hours to fold. It was laying on the table, until I could take a picture and find a nice place for it. But I just got back from doing the groceries and I found the frog.... ripped too shreddes.

Just wanted to share.. I'l be crying for next couple hours now
