Okay, that was the last bodily feature that remained to distinguish between them. I guess now it is really up to me whether to call my model fairy or elf :-D

origami_8 wrote:I've done a bit of research and came to the conclusion that the main difference between elves and fairies is their character. Fairies are mostly considered old souls that are keepers of the woods and all its plants and animals. They can for a certain degree manipulate natural forces like the weather. They are wise and fair.
Elves are living for the moment. Just like little children they aren't really responsible for their deeds. They are very light butterfly like creatures that like beautiful things but can be very nasty too.
Both have some supernatural powers.
In appearance both elves and fairies can or can not have wings and be anything from big to tiny. The only feature that seems to be associated with elves only are the pointed ears, but still those aren't a must.
I think it's awesome when origami makes you learn more about the subject you are representing :D. I had no idea about all of this.

I had a lovely piece of elephant-dung paper and managed to wrangle a Tarsier designed by Sebastien Limet

After much swearing, wrestling and strife, I managed to wrangle out of a 70cm square of 90GSM Kraft Hojyo Takahashi's "Aquarius

Bullfrog
Designed and folded by me from a 35cm uncut square.
The model was designed specifically for this paper, that was given to me by Cavemanboon on flickr...
