Will Ryu Zin 3.5 ever be diagrammed?

Post by e-mo »

Hi all..

I was wondering if the ryu zin 3.5 will ever be diagrammed :-)
Unfortunately I cannot read the CP to fold it...and I think even with diagramms it will be difficult enought to follow all the steps...but at least..it might be easier to read a CP :-)

cheers,

I've heard there are some partial diagrams in World Of Super-Complex Origami.
I highly doubt anything beyond that will ever be published. For one, box-pleated models are notoriously difficult to diagram unless there's a rigid folding sequence; and I don't think one exists for the Ryuzin.
So you'll either have to learn to collapse CPs or deal with not folding that model (or, like me, do both :P).
After the fall, we rise.

Probably not.... however, satoshi did make a fake cover for a ryu-jin book for this years April fools joke, which he also did a couple years back with a "fake" cover for a second works book, which was actually made within a year or 2. I still doubt he will make diagrams, but never lose hope.
What I want from is his freaking wasp.... that needs to be diagrammed.

I highly doubt it will ever be diagrammed. There are very partial diagrams in WOSCO, but anything more than that is unlikely at the most.
Now, if we want to talk about what we would want him to diagram... any of the following would be awesome.
Kzinssie type2
Mixopterus
Pteranodon
Eurypterus
Caribu 2.2
Praying Mantis
Wasp 2.6
Cattle
Turtle 2013

Hopefully he'll include those and some more in his next book, or in convention books/ tanteidan magazines in years to come.

Cattle is diagramed in OTM 141
and now he is making diagrams for Praying Mantis - there will be classes soon in japan, where he teaches that model

It would be inefficient to make computer-drawn diagrams of 3.5, with all the 3D folding involved and all the references you need to watch out for, each step would take up most of a page! A better idea is for each part to be diagrammed individually, like just one leg (from its own square,) just the tail, just the head, then a precreasing guide to the 96x96, the start of collapse, then the instruction "now collapse the foot like the test fold" and so on, then some diagrams on wiring, gluing and final shaping.
You know, if I was ever to make a guide, it would go like that.

Quit dreaming kids.

That will never happen. If you want to see a Ryujin masterfully folded by you, it must be the result of a really hard work. (Speaking by myself, took me a lot of time to figure out each part and make that thing possible with no official CP available at that time)

I would not be happy to diagram my most enigmatic design and make the things easy for people :D

As stated above, Cattle is diagrammed. The Mantis is diagrammed - I've seen the diagrams from a friend. They are very nice diagrams. On the other hand I think there are many unofficial diagrams of various Ryujins. I saw a whole head diagram somewhere.

In that case - scratch the mantis and cattle, and add the Leafy Sea Dragon. Maybe also his otocinclus and Ishihara's fox. I'd take any of those over Ryujin diagrams any day.
