Origami family stories
I was just wondering if there was any girlfriends and boyfriends, husbands and wives, and possibly children (relatives of any sort) where you are all origamists. Personally, I try to get everybody into origami, yet it never works
I do have one relative on the forum, though! His username: ZEEKY baky doog (my cousin). I knew he should join the forum because he enjoys origami and he very sucessfully folded the seaturtle from "Origami Zoo" the other day

my little brother likes origami but he is a very bad folder ....
sadly he can't be precise enough so he allways gives up.
For instance, he tried lang's spenjurmunni many times, and I was there to help him, but he's still unable to fold the tail alone.

My mom did a lot of origami, simple models that she had in memory like piano, boats, camera now though she is happy teaching kids around the neighbourhood....she inspired me to fold since i was about 5 and i haven't stopped since. My 3 year old niece makes very nice boats and keeps asking me to teach her complex folds! I hope my daughter does that too some day..... I would feel proud

Hrmmm none of my immediate family does origami,
Ive gotten the Irish half of my family all enthused about it though
.
I am a pre-school Montessori teacher though and have brought my own interest in origami into the classroom. The children absolutely love it and some of them (because they are with me for 3-4 years) end up learning quite complex models.

I teach my sister what I do and sometimes she folds the model better than me.... I was inspired by my aunt when I was a child when she taught me how to do a jumping frog... which I struggled to learn... Would love it if I could transfer all my knowledge to my children when I have them
Origami is fun and everyone appreciates it in my family....

I'm the only one who folds in my immediate family. My uncle folds and actually was the one who introduced my to Kunihiko Kasahara's Origami Omnibus. I tried to teach my cousin to fold and I don't want to be rude, so I'll say this as downplayed as I can; She wasn't very good...
Seriously and she's so independant I was "NOT ALLOWED TO HELP!"... Then when she got fed up she threw the paper at me and yelled abuse about our fine art! A pity though... My uncle's good which helps! So at least I have one person to talk to about origami...

Yea, my mom taught me since I was a few years old and now at seventeen I can fold things I wouldn't have even imagined of folding. But like everyone else here, I also don't any people closeby who share the same enthusiasm as I do, but I do my best to spread it among friends. It seems the commonpeople don't appreciate the effort, time, or skill required. Hardly anybody nowadays is patient enought to try. I blame pop culture. And the media, hah.
