He's right. It is very difficult to make the hand grip the staff. All the fingers are on one side of the staff, so you can make it grab like a gorilla would. But in order to make it grab the staff in the way in which a normal human would, you would need to really compact the the layers of the staff and make it thinner. Look at the CP: the fingers are the same length (max) as the staff is wide. If you can fold the staff in half, but keep it as thin as before (impossible without an additive, such as glue, MC, water) then he will grip the staff.

I'm not trying to wrap the fingers all the way around the staff. His four fingers go half way and the thumb the other way.
I've been able to get his hand around the staff, but they're not staying there. I don't know anything about wet folding, but with it is it possible to fix his arm in place so it doesn't separate from the staff?

An eleven hour flight, an hour long train ride, and a thirty minute subway ride to the Origami House
. The book is cheaper this way too, and you might meet Kamiya himself.
If I remember correctly, there's no more surface mail from Japan to America, so you can't take the long, cheap route anymore. Just don't order from any sketchy sites.

It all depends on where you live and where you order the book from.
For people in the German language area the Viereck-Verlag may be a good address to get it:
http://viereck-verlag.de/buecher/works% ... Kamiya.htm
For people in Europe (and maybe the rest of the world too) Nicolas Terry's shop could be advisable (but I think he's out of stock at the moment):
http://design.origami.free.fr/shop.htm
People in the USA may like to order from Origami USA:
http://www.origami-usa.org/thesource/agora.cgi
And finally from all around the world Sasuga Books is a good address (but only if your browser is in English, otherwise the page won't work, sigh):
http://www.sasugabooks.com/advanced_sea ... rds=kamiya
As far as I know all this shops are safe (haven't ordered from Origami USA though). Shipping costs and period will vary dependent upon where you live and where the book comes from.

Well, if you're more interested in the set of diagrams contained in the 13th volume of Tanteidan magazines (issues 73-78) you can get the Wizard diagrams that way. It won't be any faster though. The Wizard is in magazine #77. On Gilad's origami page http://www.giladorigami.com he has many book reviews, where you can see what the works look like. Direct link to the Volume 13 page: http://www.giladorigami.com/BO_Tanteida ... ol_13.html
But really, Works of Satoshi Kamiya is pretty much the best book of complex origami out there.
