Originality check?

Post by suntailhawk »

Hey guys~!

I got a few designs of my own. And I really hope that I can get copy right and publish my own book one day. But I am wondering is there any way for me to check whether my model is original enough?

Hmmm...I saw a topic on this a few days ago...can't seem to find it right now :(

I'll search a bit more and see if I can find anything.

You have some pretty neat stuff there, suntailhawk.

Sure other people have made ankhs (and I'll be honest and say better than yours--compare yours to the picture--the loop is too small, and the arms need to be tapered--try some sinking.)

The Heroes symbol is kind of stupid, sorry.

The Simple Plan icon is creative and nicely executed.

The Auryn from Neverending Story is awesome. Fold it better, diagram it, and you'll be set.

Tree of Life: Great, but what is it?

The pegasus is cute.

The phoenix doesn't make me think phoenix at all. More like a peace dove.

Your topic choices are pretty original (other than the pegasus and phoenix). And you've done a pretty good job. Keep going.

I actually really like Suntail's Phoenix. Maybe looks a bit too much like a pheasant, but I don't think that matters since phoenixes are fantasy creatures with no set appearance. In fact, I just folded one about 20 minutes ago! I did fold the feet in a way to make them point down, however. I think I'll try the Pegasus next! :D

The Ankh... I was being lazy when I was folding it. You see, it is made a from a pleat-sinked bird base. And I could have sink it in 8s... but I sink it in 4s because I was lazy.... I'm sure I can make it look nicer if I put more effort into it...

Tree of life :

"Tree of life is a mystical concept within the Kabbalah of Judaism which is used to understand the nature of God and the manner in which He created the world ex nihilo (out of nothing). The Kabbalists developed this concept into a full model of reality, using the tree to depict a "map" of Creation. The tree of life has been called the "cosmology" of the Kabbalah."

As you guys might have guessed, the Pegasus and the phoenix are two of my earliest attempt in origami design.... I agree that it is not so original... but at least it is memorable :)

I have a nicer version of my pegasus. Although, I must say that it is not so original. I took someone else's model, which was a pegasus/crane with long legs... and I added the last few step of my pegasus to it, and...

For sure that it is not original enough for me to claim copy right, but I really like it :)

This is yet another one of my design. It is the caduceus of Herm, also known as the medical symbol. It is made from 2 pieces of papers. The staff is a bird base pleat sinked in 8s and the snakes are pleat-sinked waterbomb base in... I don't know... :P

Stay tune for a few more designs of mine... :P

The Caduceus of Herm is fantastic. Very original idea! Is there anyway you can make the wings larger? You don't have to, but it might work...

I love your other models. If you were to publish the Simple Plan one, (As I am not so much of an SP fan) you could give intructions on how to manipulate the S and P into other letters.

Your tree of life is just amazing. That's all I can say for that!

Phoenix is great. I think the misconception is becaus it is white. If you fold it with coloured paper I'm sure it looks more phoenix-y.

The pendant is incredibly intricate. I love it!

Don't stop the great work!
