Paperjade.com contact info?

Post by crumpybumpy »

Has anyone ordered from paperjade.com? Their website is crashed and I was looking for a phone number or email address to contact them. I have read they sell very large origami paper and want to get some!

how large are you looking for?

for precut regular kami, the largest they have is 14" (which seems to be the largest commercial paper that you can get). they do have very large sheets of uncut yuzen washi.

i have ordered frequently from them, and am satisfied, but please note that, generally speaking, they are also the most expensive site on the web (sometimes 200% more for the same item from another site!), though this is probably because shipping & handling are free.

the main plus for them (other than the free shipping & handling) are their exclusive packs, but i would tend to avoid them for regular kami unless no other site offered the same thing.

however, they are currently the only website that sells 14" in one color in bulk. for varied color packs of the same size you are better off going to another seller.

i will pm you their contact info later.

Right now I'm using the largest Foldems size which I think is 9"...I am just starting to learn dinosaurs by John Montroll and I am struggling with the folds involving the legs etc and I am hoping if the model is bigger it will be easier to do.

Are there any other sources that sell 14" or larger? or better yet rolls that I could precut on my own?

there are many sources that sell 14".

imho, the best bang for your buck is:

http://www.artoforigami.com

the minus is that you only get 3 colors. the plus is that you get two sheets of large japanese foil (as you improve, you'll see why these are to be treasured). shipping & handling is only $2.99.

http://www.kimscrane.com
http://www.sasugabooks.com
http://www.nicetoys.com (go to the left column, click on yasutomo)
http://www.yasutomo.com

kimscrane is probably the cheapest supplier. they are finishing up moving currently, i believe. before they moved it was a flat $9.00 shipping and handling. so before you order do your math (i.e., i believe paperjade sells the same kind of 14" pack as kimscrane for $15. so if you buy one pack from them it is cheaper than buying one pack from kimscrane. conversely, if you buy more than two packs, kimscrane ends up being the better deal). sasuga has an offer (which ends today, 4/30) for free shipping & handling on orders over $40, and they sell 14" packs for $8.00.

also, where do you live?

http://www.origamisources.com

if you live in the dc area, i know that ginza & things used to see 14" packs.

if you are on montroll dinosaurs, most of those should be doable with a 10" square. only the stegosaurus might need more than that for beginners, and you might save a lot of money/time/trouble if you just post for help. that being said i keep a lot of 14" squares to practice complex models on before i use better paper.

lastly, rolls are available anywhere. just go to any dollar store or party store and you can buy large rolls of paper. the quality is variable.
