cherry blossom

Post by mrsriggins »

I've designed a cherry blossom flower but I'm having problems with the stamen. The stamen would be made from a separate piece of paper and go into the middle of the cherry blossom. The blossom closes by twisting the bottom point so the stamen would be twisted into the blossom. It needs to be something like the stamen piece from the azalea ( http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/azalea.pdf ). Anyone have any ideas? I just haven't found anything that I like and I'm out of things to try. The blossom doesn't need the stamen but I want it to have it. I'll post some pics of the blossom soon.

Finally got around to taking some pics of the cherry blossom. This isn't the best one I've folded and it's made from a blue post it note but- you get the idea.

That is a great cherry blossom-and I can see why you want a stamen. It just looks like it should have something there. Apart from just twisting in cut pieces of paper, you could use a bird base and thin the four flaps with sinks until they are as thin as you would like them.

I did do one out of a petal folded bird base, basically and slimmed down lily, and it looked ok I just wasn't ecstatic over it. I've been playing with different things and everything either seems too simple or too complex. Oh well I'll keep at it! I want it to look like my inspiration picture
