Alright my first attempt on Netto's Dama was by the book, but I was unhappy with how it turned out.

So on my second time, I was sloppier and did things differently to simplify things and do it more like I want to. It's not great, but I'll show it anyway.

This was folded from a sheet of Japanese foil.

Good, bad, or otherwise, it's good to see what people have been folding. Considering that this is the only way that I have contact with other folders, I have no other means of telling how the rest of the world is doing.

I'll have to do some looking around before I have something else worthy of submission here though.

I know what you mean. I feel pretty isolated, don't know anyone around here that folds... which stinks because where I previously lived there was an origami club.

I recently folded, Eric Joisel's Rat and Watanabe Dai's A Bird on Hand.

I've never actually met another folder in person either. I am not aware of any groups near me. The closest one listed is in Texas. DavidW, there are 3 groups listed for Pennsylvania on the OUSA website http://www.origami-usa.org/regions.php .

Thanks Phil, but I already knew about those clubs-- they are all 3-4 hours driving time away from me.

Oh nice rat. :D

Oh, very cool octopus design! It has a nice look about it, and it seems to hold it's creases nicely (backcoating perhaps?) Now I really wish I had a camera! Oh and I have folded on late Joseph Wu's Eastern Dragon and Ronald Koh's Black Rhino just to let ya'll know!

Thanks! :D

No backcoating or anything, it's such a great paper I just folded as is. It's crisp unlike the mulberry paper I messed around with before. Wolf was right, what people call mulberry paper can be very different from one pack to the next depending on who makes them!

That is very true! The Mulberry I have right now needs a backcoating to crease well! :( It's a little annoying. Where did you get your mulberry from?

I just tried "Parchment Paper" recently on the recommendation of a great folder on this forum.
I tried another Yoda, here are the results.

Oops! I'd forgotten that there is such a thing as parchment paper used for cooking. I don't think I've ever folded with that kind of parchment paper before. Actually, I was referring to calligraphy parchment paper. It usually comes in a white form and in a "golden" form.
