It's not one piece, but there's a nice scene of this on the cover of Dave Brill's book 'Brilliant Origami'Kaimon wrote: you all know the scenes on old historical pictures where a warrior on a horse beats a dragon(lying on the ground).

It sounds like you are refering specificly to "St. George & The Dragon"Kaimon wrote: you all know the scenes on old historical pictures where a warrior on a horse beats a dragon(lying on the ground).
the "challenge"
by Raphael 1483-1520
I cannot think of any other examples.
1 sheet would be a challenge indeed.

Neal Elias issued a similar challenge a while back: Folding 'The Last Supper' from one sheet of paper.
Now, if the starting sheet were long enough, both this and the dragon scene can be done using relatively straightforward box pleating.
Starting from one square would be somewhat more interesting, especially if you're trying for an optimized packing pattern.

Back to the topic:
I really like all kinds of action models, so have you ever thought on creating really working scales or maybe a dandelion from one square where you can blow up the little umbrellas? Also models that are turning into another model (best with colourchange) are always funny.
And Platypusguy, I can´t remember having ever seen an origami platypus, so could you please upload a picture of yours, maybe as your avatar?
