Octogonal coin purse

Post by gregorovius »

Hi. I'm new here and pretty new to origami. I'm mostly interested in wallets, coin purses, boxes, etc. I've made the classic 'puzzle purse', but I would really like to make something similar to some octogonal designs I've found, namely http://www.leathersmithdesigns.com/leat ... allets.htm (leather) and http://www.papercraftcentral.net/2009/0 ... tar-purse/.

Besides cutting an octagon base I have no idea how to proceed. Any hints/links would be very appreciated.

Cheers.

Check out these diagrams for an octogonal Pinwheel tato, close enough that I think this might be what you want.

I was not aware of the rule about linking to diagrams being forbidden, I apologize.

Here's something similar to the Victoria's Secret Box:

Only to copyrighted diagrams, illegally published in the internet.

From what you say you like, I think you will enjoy Oschene's blog that is full with the type of models you mentioned. Check http://origami.oschene.com/ and his Flickr gallery at http://www.flickr.com/photos/oschene/

If you don't mind folding from a circle, I drew a crease pattern (not a diagram, just the lines you need to fold to obtain a model) of an octagon box with purse closing you might find interesting. It can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/georigami/3193396658/
