This was a much more brutal model than I was prepared for. I don't think I've done so many sinks and unsinks since folding through Lang's Origami Insects and their Kin!

There is one fatal flaw in the diagrams: step 82. Ignore step 82. The flap this "repeat" step uses is the one used to make the back shell.
[DISCLAIMER] I'm 98% sure it's step 82. I only folded this once and wound up unfolding what I truly believe is step 82, but there is a chance I could be mistaken.

That all said, here's my ugly model.

I used a square of tissue foil about half the size I needed to. (Yes, I used green. I have no idea what possessed me to use green paper, but I did.) The tears on the tissue part of the back are the result of me not taking my time to make quality tissue foil. Having to unfold step 82 out of that flap didn't help either. I also am exhausted and lazy, so I didn't pleat the back like I should have.

I do believe I messed up folding it somewhere... I didn't have a flap to do step 100 with.

Regardless, yes, it does make a lobster. If you're having trouble in a particular spot with the diagrams, I can still help you out, Orislater.

If you are having so much trouble with the diagram on the web, why don't you just buy the book with the model in it that has no mistakes. The book is called origami bugs and beasts. It has 30 models including the lobster, sea urchin, scorpion, goliath beetle and a centaurea ( tropical flower with about 30 flaps on top). Hope this helps. The diagrams in the book are also better quality.

I also folded this with tissue foil, but used way to small paper, so it took some time to get it right. PS, I painted it with acrylics afterwards....
I do not remeber any errors in the diagram, but I may be wrong, what step are you having problems with?

I have this book. I hate it. I think it is probably the worst origami book in my collection. Why? Because all of the models require tissue- foil, even the leatherback sea turtle, despite being complex or even supercomplex are sometimes not even anatomically correct( the lobster is not the lobster mentioned above- it has no arms, or for that matter , claws, I'm not sure what the 'stag beetle' is but it is definitely not any type of stag beetle. I'm not sure what's going on with the abdomen of the tarantula, either) Many of the arthropods' legs come from the middle of the paper,(both harlequin beetles, scopion, 'lobster', wasp, tarantula, toes of tree frog, and more). The book also has a 'gallery' of poorly photgraphed and folded models, made look even more amatuer by someone who has cropped them and stuck them on a chavvy background. I would warn people against buying this book.

I also don't like it when legs are folded from the center of the paper. And I prefer origami to be paper foldable. But since Sirgo right in the front (at least in the original Spanish book) says to use tissue foil, and if you just use what he designed the models for you'll have a blast, there are many cool models in his books. Sure some of them are clunky, but many of them are good.

I already have origami bugs and beasts and I like it a lot. I don't have much tissue foil though. My favorite model in the book is either the sea urchin or the manatee and I have folded both with a very big piece of gold foil.

I folded the lobster from Imaginado en Papel from a 70x70cm gift wrapping paper. Even though with that large paper, the legs get too thick since they are folded from the center of the paper.
