Help with Pentakis kusudama?

Post by thedragonbg »

Can someone help me with this: I like the view of this kusudama.

The description is saying that this is a Spiked pentakis sonobe and it is made form 60 sonobe modules, but i cannot get to this view, but to this -

which is dual colored! In fact I cannot realize how to obtain a plain pyramid side, in the model... Can someone tell me how to do it? I hope, that you have understand my messy explanation. Thank you in advance.

I will point out some things that stand out to me:

1) You can see a red-blue-green right triangle in each, you have them ordered wrong. In the original each length of the spike from the center was the hypotenuse of the triangle(red line).

2) Remember, once you move the red section to the proper spot the unit has to be concave.

3) This is the hardest to explain: two single units are combined to each other to make a final module that goes into final model. So you then get 30 double modules that fit together.

Creases for each single model: two mountain and one valley.
Assembly for a double module:

Now continue the ring and get five to a ring. It's more like a dodecahedral assembly.

Hello ShizzyCic.
Thank you for your replay, but I have no problems to build a normal pentakis dodecahedron - "dual colored", made from a classic sonobe module, like the second picture. In fact I want to build this blue-green one, with plane sides. In description it says is made from 60 sonobe units, but I cannot see how this is possible without the squares of the sonobe module. I find other method - Tomoko Fuse, using a rectangle called COMPOUND MODULE - but the number of units is half - 30. And there also is missing this "vertical line" you marked in red, see this:

Problem resolved!!!

Finally i have the problem resolved. I made some experiments late in the night yesterday, and i view the way in my head - here i attach a diagram of the particular sonobe module I think was used for the module.
