make life easy. just use a protractor.

seriously, for lang's more recent models, just measure and mark (that's what he does, he has said as much). purism will get you nothing except sore eyeballs, dizziness, and lots of excess creases.

Last line you find divides the angle in 30 and 60 degrees. Divide 60 degree angle into two and you get a trisected angle.

I got no clue if you can apply this, since I don't have the diagram.
Else use bethnor's solution.

In situations like this, I tend to eyeball it: fold what you think is a third (when you do this, your folded flap and the remaining part of the flap should be about equal in size). Crease lightly, if at all. Then fold the flap over again along the edge of the flap you just folded--if the new edge meets the center line, then you've got thirds and can make strong creases. If not, adjust the first crease and try again. Using a protractor would certainly be more exact and probably faster, but in the absence of a protractor, this method works pretty well.

i just want to say that of all the models in this book (OI2) i have folded them all (even the flying gracilicoricus) and i must say that the ant is my least favorite. besides being relatively simple compared to the rest of the models, this ant just isnt all that great in my humble opinion. but, compared to other models out there i guess its still a great fold....so fold away...have fun....and good luck....about the thirds crease....just do what dinogami says and eyeball it. after a while and some practise you should have no problem folding thirds without any reference points. good luck!
