The map is a particular highlight. It uses OpenStreetMap, which provides worldwide coverage and includes the trails necessary for outdoor workouts. It also has several features that help you navigate during a workout: - maps can be smoothly panned and zoomed, and can rotate according to the compass; - a breadcrumb trail of your whole route is displayed on the map during the workout; - topographic data can be shown, with configurable contour colours and hill shading; - map-only mode is provided for when you don't want to start a workout and just need a map; - a circular scale is shown when you zoom, making it easy to see the distance to features; - maps can be stored on the watch for use when offline (they are downloaded as required if online); - a red compass points north and a green compass points to the start; - choose a waypoint to see a compass and distance to it in the corner of the map; - you can also navigate to waypoints on the map, such as hospitals, sights, cafes etc. If you load a route from a GPX / TCX / FIT file then navigation is even easier: - your position is shown on an elevation profile of the route; - the remaining distance, time and ascent can also be displayed; - you can get alerted when you go off-route; - when off-route then a compass is shown which points to the nearest part of the route; - if the route contains turn by turn directions then these can be used like a sat nav; - if there are no directions then the app can use “bend detection” to generate them; - the next direction is shown as an icon and distance in the corner of the map; - the map can automatically zoom in when you are approaching a turn; - you can use shake gestures to hear the distance to the next turn or the end of the route; - routes are coloured by gradient: from red for steep uphill to blue for steep downhill; - you can configure what information is displayed during a climb or descent. The purpose of Crack the Reading Code is to teach what is practical for reading: - Shape - Writing direction - Sound. These are the foundations of reading. Children can then acquire the essential knowledge that letters represent sounds, fit together and make words that have meaning. The content has been developed by experienced Danish teachers and special education teachers - A supplement to writing textbooks and reading education Use the app for 10 minutes at home with your child or at school to add variety to the first daily reading practice. Children in kindergarten who are curious about letters will also think it's exciting. * THE SOUND OF THE LETTERS BEFORE THE NAMES. Children often learn the names of the letters instead of the sound of the letters. This means that they must apprehend something that they cannot use for their further reading. Often, they will have to relearn it when they are shown sounds at school that they have to use to read. Broadly speaking, they have no use for the letter names in the initial stages of reading. Crack the Reading Code uses exclusively letter sounds. * THE 120 MOST USED WORDS AS WORD PICTURES. Many of the 120 most used words are not spelled as they sound. Therefore, it is a big help to recognize these as word pictures. Children won't be forced to sound it out here, but instead just recognize the word like they recognize their own name or that a big yellow M means McDonald's. That is why these 120 are trained as word pictures in Crack the Reading Code. Uppercase letters for the intermediate learner. Many children first learn the 'big letters'. Of course, these must also be learned, but it should happen only when the child already recognizes the 'small letters.' It is easier to relate to one shape per sound than two. Data is fetched from the Danish Nature Agency's open GeoFA database and updated automatically. FIND YOUR SPOT The map view shows all swimming spots as tappable pins, opening a detail page with description, responsible organisation and contact information. The list view is searchable and sorted by distance from your current location. Filter by type to find exactly what you are looking for. LIVE TEMPERATURES The home screen shows current water and air temperature for your location, fetched directly from the Danish Meteorological Institute's measurement stations. Water temperature comes from oceanographic stations, air temperature from the nearest weather station. WINTER BATHING The winter bathing tab collects all winter bathing locations from Friluftsrådet for the 2025/2026 season, including season start dates. Each location can be viewed on a map and opened in Apple Maps with directions. FAVOURITES AND OFFLINE Swimming spot data is cached locally after the first load and remains available without an internet connection.
