Arrowtown Book 5 Can be read as a standalone Camden "Cam" Stone had a long past and a hard life. For the past ten years he'd kept up the facade of a businessman, running the only bar in Arrowtown. The hours were long, but the people were friendly and if he didn't share much about himself, no one seemed to care. But all that changed when a new baker came to town - a baker with a flippant personality and skills the whole town were soon talking about. Nobody could be that perfect, could they? "Fabulous" Fergus Ferdinand was a bull shifter, and yes, his momma did have a sense of humor, once. Having been away from his fold for years, he'd come to the shifter town, in the hopes of building a business that would be good enough to convince his momma to come and live with him. From the moment he opened his bakery doors, people flocked to buy from him, eager for the new sweet sensations his business offered. So, it was understandable, when the gruff bar owner seemed immune to his sweet things and his sunny personality, that Fergus was a bit surprised. Unfortunately, Cam's suspicious nature, and his subsequent investigation into Fergus creates a whole stack of problems for the unlikely pair. Throw in a pair of pink unicorn pants, a momma in desperate need of saving, and a wolf with an eclair addiction and the couple are kept busy twenty-four seven. Just when they get to the point where the two men can take a breath, Fergus gets sick... and a whole stack of new challenges crop up. This is an MM Mpreg Fated Mates story. Although, it can be read as a standalone, reading the previous books will give you more understanding of the secondary characters. There is snarky humor, some violence, and a lot of sweet treats. As this book is intended for adults only, please store your ebooks responsibly.

The visionary Apple Watch is, at last, poised to take on the world in the Apple Watch Series 5! Whether you are new to Apple products, an expert, or somewhere in the middle, this book is designed to make it easy to find what interests you. I want you to feel comfortable with all aspects of your watch in an environment that encourages you to learn painlessly at your own pace. My goal is to help you enjoy the wonder of discovering your Apple Watch. Along the way, I want to:  • Teach you how to use all the features of your Apple Watch. I say “all.” As far as I know, I found every darned one of them, but don’t sue me if I missed one. Note: Details about the Compass app were not available at the time of publication. • Demonstrate the cool and awe-inspiring features of the Apple Watch. These aren’t random tips and tricks. Rather, I have showcased them in a way that lets you find them while exploring a particular feature or topic.  • Help you find what you want, when you want it. The organized and detailed Table of Contents includes more than 200 topics. Skip around to your heart’s content. • Inspire you with over 100 third-party apps. A few of the categories include entertainment, productivity, sports, photography, and games. We’ll also cover integration platforms like IFTTT, which opens up the possibility of unlimited applications. • Focus on the engineering and Apple platforms behind the Apple Watch. The physical device includes the heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and Apple’s Force Touch technology. Behind the scenes, learn how Apple is partnering with businesses to extend their HealthKit, HomeKit, and GymKit platforms to enhance your experience for years to come. • List 30 Common Troubleshooting and Maintenance Suggestions. While you can use your Apple Watch with watchOS 6 and later without your iPhone nearby, the Apple iPhone is an integral part of your day-to-day experience. In case you are new to Apple’s smartphone and iOS mobile operating system, I’ve included several topics covering the iPhone setup, screens, and gestures. Those topic headings have an asterisk and special formatting, so you can quickly skip them if you aren’t interested.  As a final selling point, I make an intentional effort to avoid a few of my pet peeves – and those pertain to incomplete instructions. I frequently see directions such as “tap to go to settings,” but they leave novice users asking, “tap where?” In another example I read, the instructions mentioned a workout playlist and how to enable it – but assumed nothing went awry (and something ALWAYS goes awry). I intend to cover those bases for you. And if I do, by chance, make the mistake of omitting a critical detail anywhere in this book, know that I was probably distracted by my Apple Watch telling me to get moving or to breathe. I apologize ahead of time; it wasn’t intentional.  Are you ready for the Apple Watch experience? Let’s get started.

Captain Maxwell Davis and his entire unit scrambled to engage alien ships over Iowa. The aliens snatched him out of his destroyed jet before they continued on their interplanetary hot pursuit. Then they informed Max that Earth was too far outside regular shipping lanes to return him to his planet. So Max ends up in an alien spaceport looking for work. To afford a ticket home he can either spend three hundred years working with linguists to improve the computer's questionable ability to translate English or he can take a job as a nanny for an unpopular alien.  That way he can afford the ticket in four years.  The problem is that the computer may have mistranslated the word "nanny" and there might be a reason an alien is willing to pay such a high fee.

Written by one of the world's leading baby loss support experts, The Baby Loss Guide is designed to help you navigate this complex issue. Whether you have personally encountered loss, or are supporting people through this harrowing time, this book provides practical and compassionate advice. Zoe and her husband Andy have personally faced the loss of five babies. Out of their experiences came the charity The Mariposa Trust (more often known by its primary division Saying Goodbye), offering support to thousands of grieving parents and relatives around the world each week. In her first bestselling book Saying Goodbye Zoe wrote a moving account of their experiences and how they found a way through loss. In The Baby Loss Guide Zoe provides a supportive and practical guide to walk people through their darkest days of suffering and gives them hope for the future. The first half of the book answers the many questions those who encounter loss ask themselves and others, and until now have resulted in people spending hours exploring the internet to gain answers and insight. It is interlaced with personal stories from both men and women who have been there, and tackles the many myths, taboos and assumptions around loss. It also provides clear guidance and advice on how to navigate life following your world imploding, such as: How do I return to work? How do I know if or when I should try again for more children? How do I communicate with my partner about loss? The second half of the book offers 60-days of practical and compassionate support. Whether someone's loss be recent or historic, this support will be a wonderful gift, and will help the person walk the scary path of grief. Zoe's friendly and down to earth approach means she removes the often over used medical terminology, and this makes The Baby Loss Guide readable, easy to absorb and a vital source of information and help.

The story only ends there, however, if you’re fortunate enough to live in an  adequate  civilization. The unmissable inside story of the most dramatic general election campaign in modern history and Theresa May’s battle for a Brexit deal, the greatest challenge for a prime minister since the Second World War. By the bestselling author of All Out War, shortlisted for the Orwell Prize 2017. This is the unmissable inside story of the most dramatic general election campaign in modern history and Theresa May’s battle for a Brexit deal – the greatest challenge for a prime minister since the Second World War. Fall Out tells of how a leader famed for her caution battled her bitterly divided cabinet at home while facing duplicitous Brussels bureaucrats abroad. Of how she then took the biggest gamble of her career to strengthen her position – and promptly blew it. It is also a tale of treachery where – in the hour of her greatest weakness – one by one, May’s colleagues began to plot against her. Inside this book you will find all the strategy, comedy, tragedy and farce of modern politics – where principle, passion and vaulting ambition collide in the corridors of power. It chronicles a civil war at the heart of the Conservative Party and a Labour Party back from the dead, led by Jeremy Corbyn, who defied the experts and the critics on his own side to mount an unlikely tilt at the top job. With access to all the key players, Tim Shipman has written a political history that reads like a thriller, exploring how and why the EU referendum result pitched Britain into a year of political mayhem. Reviews 'The doyen of … high-class gossip is … Shipman, whose All Out War was last year’s bestselling guide to the referendum campaign. Its sequel takes up where that left off … Shipman’s books are fast becoming classics … It’s testament to the rigour of [his] research that the book doesn’t feel dated despite the speed at which events at Westminster have moved since it went to press' Gaby Hinsliff, Guardian ‘This extraordinary book … reads like a roaring farce … jam-packed with fresh, illuminating details … Shipman’s writing has admirable clarity and drive … For anyone who wants to relive the past year… this book is a must’ Craig Brown, Mail On Sunday ‘All Out War was the best political book published … last year … its triumphant sequel … is even better’ Alex Massie, Spectator ‘Gripping … If journalism is the "first rough draft" of history, then Shipman is the master of the second, tidied up, version of events … A mixture of political thriller, psychological analysis and campaign diary, this is a page-turner for anyone interested in politics’ Rachel Sylvester, The Times ‘Readers who enjoyed the lucid prose and unrivalled access that made the first book such a treat will love its sequel’ New Statesman ‘Shipman … a major-domo with a notebook in his waistcoat pocket … bends over backwards to be fair … It is crammed with detailed description and the transcribed thoughts of those who were there when the key decisions were taken’ Andrew Marr, Sunday Times ‘Excellent … engrossing … a witty phrase-maker … Shipman does a fine job of making sense of the period since the Brexit referendum … illuminating’ Andrew Rawnsley, Observer ‘Of books explaining this peculiar time, the most keenly awaited comes from Tim Shipman … he returns to his role as the chief biographer of Brexit with a worthy sequel’ Sebastian Payne, Financial Times ‘It carries on from his first book, All Out War and is just as good … I can’t give his books any higher praise than that’ Iain Dale, LBC

The Walking Dead Compendium is here! Since 2003, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead has been redefining the survival horror genre with its unique and vivid account of life after the end of the world. Although the cast is diverse and often changing (including, of course, a great number of zombies), at the heart of every tale is Rick Grimes: former police officer, husband, father, and de facto leader of a ragtag band of survivors looking to make a future for themselves in a world that no longer has one. To call The Walking Dead a zombie tale is accurate to a point, but it touches on only one facet of a story that asks timeless questions about what it means to live. It also asks whether or not this is possible in a world full of the dead. This is a great opportunity to experience this gripping read for the first time or catch up on the tale with the first four years worth of material, collected in one volume for the first time. The first eight volumes of this fan-favorite series collected into one massive collection. This volume collects THE WALKING DEAD #1-48.

Sosiaalisten taitojen kääntöpuoli on aggressiivisuus. Keltikangas-Järvinen on Helsingin yliopiston psykologian professori. Hänet valittiin Vuoden professoriksi 2008.

Jack Halberstam

Publisher: Duke University Press

The Queer Art of Failure is about finding alternatives—to conventional understandings of success in a heteronormative, capitalist society; to academic disciplines that confirm what is already known according to approved methods of knowing; and to cultural criticism that claims to break new ground but cleaves to conventional archives. Judith Halberstam proposes “low theory” as a mode of thinking and writing that operates at many different levels at once. Low theory is derived from eccentric archives. It runs the risk of not being taken seriously. It entails a willingness to fail and to lose one’s way, to pursue difficult questions about complicity, and to find counterintuitive forms of resistance. Tacking back and forth between high theory and low theory, high culture and low culture, Halberstam looks for the unexpected and subversive in popular culture, avant-garde performance, and queer art. She pays particular attention to animated children’s films, revealing narratives filled with unexpected encounters between the childish, the transformative, and the queer. Failure sometimes offers more creative, cooperative, and surprising ways of being in the world, even as it forces us to face the dark side of life, love, and libido.

No one explodes one of the longest-held misconceptions of music history better than Steve Lukather and his band Toto. The dominant pop-culture sound of the late-1970s and '80s was not in fact the smash and sneer of punk, but a slick, polished amalgam of rock and R&B that was first staked out on Boz Scaggs' Silk Degrees. That album was shaped in large part by the founding members of Toto, who were emerging as the most in-demand elite session muso-crew in LA, and further developed on the band's self-titled three-million-selling debut smash of 1978. A string of hits followed for the band going into the '80s and beyond. Running parallel to this, as stellar session players, Lukather and band-mates David Paich, Jeff Porcaro and Steve Porcaro were also the creative linchpins on some of the most successful, influential and enduring records of the era. In The Gospel According to Luke , Lukather tells the Toto story: how a group of high school friends formed the band in 1977 and went on to sell more than 40 million records worldwide. He also lifts the lid on what really went on behind the closed studio doors and shows the unique creative processes of some of the most legendary names in music: from Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks and Elton John to Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Don Henley, Roger Waters and Aretha Franklin. And yet, Lukather's extraordinary tale encompasses the dark side of the American Dream. Engaging, incisive and often hilarious, The Gospel According to Luke is no ordinary rock memoir. It is the real thing . . .

I tattooed a number on her arm. She tattooed her name on my heart. In 1942, Lale Sokolov arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival - scratching numbers into his fellow victims' arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust. Waiting in line to be tattooed, terrified and shaking, was a young girl. For Lale - a dandy, a jack-the-lad, a bit of a chancer - it was love at first sight. And he was determined not only to survive himself, but to ensure this woman, Gita, did, too. So begins one of the most life-affirming, courageous, unforgettable and human stories of the Holocaust: the love story of the tattooist of Auschwitz. ----- Heather Morris is on tour in the UK this autumn - for details see @ZaffreBooks on Twitter ----- ' Extraordinary - moving, confronting and uplifting . . .

Edward Snowden omin sanoin. Modernin historian suurimman vakoiluskandaalin paljastanut mies kertoo uskomattoman tarinansa tietokonenörtistä huippuvakoojaksi ja lopulta maailman etsityimmäksi tietovuotajaksi. Vuonna 2013 Edward Snowden -niminen tuntematon nuori mies nousi otsikoihin kaikkialla. Hän on saanut yleishyödyllisestä työstään lukuisia palkintoja, kuten varjo-Nobeliksi kutsutun Right Livelihood -palkinnon ja Carl von Ossietzky -mitalin International League for Human Rightsiltä. Nykyisin hän toimii Freedom of the Press Foundationin johtoryhmän puheenjohtajana.

___________________________________ 'Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.' A lawyer's advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel - a black man falsely charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with exuberant humour the irrationality of adult attitudes to race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina of one man's struggle for justice. But the weight of history will only tolerate so much. To Kill a Mockingbird is a coming-of-age story, an anti-racist novel, a historical drama of the Great Depression and a sublime example of the Southern writing tradition.

System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. The impact of overconfidence on corporate strategies, the difficulties of predicting what will make us happy in the future, the profound effect of cognitive biases on everything from playing the stock market to planning our next vacation—each of these can be understood only by knowing how the two systems shape our judgments and decisions. Engaging the reader in a lively conversation about how we think, Kahneman reveals where we can and cannot trust our intuitions and how we can tap into the benefits of slow thinking. He offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made in both our business and our personal lives—and how we can use different techniques to guard against the mental glitches that often get us into trouble. Winner of the National Academy of Sciences Best Book Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and selected by The New York Times Book Review as one of the ten best books of 2011, Thinking , Fast and Slow is destined to be a classic.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places. The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller. This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. A call-to-arms about the broken nature of artificial intelligence, and the powerful corporations that are turning the human-machine relationship on its head. We like to think that we are in control of the future of "artificial" intelligence. The reality, though, is that we--the everyday people whose data powers AI--aren't actually in control of anything. When, for example, we speak with Alexa, we contribute that data to a system we can't see and have no input into--one largely free from regulation or oversight. The big nine corporations--Amazon, Google, Facebook, Tencent, Baidu, Alibaba, Microsoft, IBM and Apple--are the new gods of AI and are short-changing our futures to reap immediate financial gain. In this book, Amy Webb reveals the pervasive, invisible ways in which the foundations of AI--the people working on the system, their motivations, the technology itself--is broken. Within our lifetimes, AI will, by design, begin to behave unpredictably, thinking and acting in ways which defy human logic. The big nine corporations may be inadvertently building and enabling vast arrays of intelligent systems that don't share our motivations, desires, or hopes for the future of humanity. Much more than a passionate, human-centered call-to-arms, this book delivers a strategy for changing course, and provides a path for liberating us from algorithmic decision-makers and powerful corporations.

A novel by Bernard Cornwell that follows the enormous success of his Arthurian trilogy (The Winter King, Enemy of God, and Excalibur) tells the tale of three brothers and of their rivalry that creates the great temple. One summer’s day, a stranger carrying great wealth in gold comes to the settlement of Ratharryn. He dies in the old temple. The people assume that the gold is a gift from the gods. But the mysterious treasure causes great dissension, both without from tribal rivalry, and within. The three sons of Ratharryn’s chief each perceive the great gift in a different way. The eldest, Lengar, the warrior, harnesses his murderous ambition to be a ruler and take great power for his tribe. Camaban, the second and an outcast from the tribe, becomes a great visionary and feared wise man, and it is his vision that will force the youngest brother, Saban, to create the great temple on the green hill where the gods will appear on earth. It is Saban who is the builder, the leader and the man of peace. It is his love for a sorceress whose powers rival those of Camaban and for Aurenna, the sun bride whose destiny is to die for the gods, that finally brings the rivalries of the brothers to a head. But it is also his skills that will build the vast temple, a place for the gods certainly but also a place that will confirm for ever the supreme power of the tribe that built it. And in the end, when the temple is complete, Saban must choose between the gods and his family. Stonehenge is Britain’s greatest prehistoric monument, a symbol of history; a building, created 4 millenia ago, which still provokes awe and mystery. Stonehenge: A Novel of 2000 BC is first and foremost a great historical novel. Bernard Cornwell is well known and admired for the realism and imagination with which he brings an earlier world to life. And here he uses all these skills to create the world of primitive Britain and to solve the mysteries of who built Stonehenge and why. ‘A circle of chalk, a ring of stone, and a house of arches to call the far gods home’ About the author Bernard Cornwell worked for BBC TV for seven years, mostly as Producer on the Nationwide programme, before taking charge of the Current Affairs department in Northern Ireland. In 1978 he became editor of Thames Television’s Thames at Six. Married to an American, he now lives in the United States.

Moniin ongelmiin on kuitenkin onneksi mahdollista vaikuttaa. Tämä kirja on kirjoitettu tiedoksi ja tueksi ADHD-oireisille aikuisille, jotta he voisivat auttaa itse itseään. Kirja soveltuu kaikille riippumatta siitä, onko heillä tarkkaamattomuuspainotteinen vai myös ylivilkkautta sisältävä tarkkaavuushäiriön muoto. Kirjan ensimmäiseen osaan on koottu kaikki, mitä ADHD-oireisen tarvitsee tietää tarkkaavuushäiriön oireista, syistä ja hoitomuodoista. Toisessa osassa kerrotaan, mitä jokainen voi itse tehdä helpottaakseen vaikeuksiaan ja muuttaakseen elämäänsä haluamaansa suuntaan. Eri ongelma-alueisiin - kuten keskittymisongelmiin, lykkäilyyn ja impulsiivisuuteen - pureudutaan kuhunkin kerrallaan. Konkreettiset esimerkit ja harjoitukset auttavat viemään uusia keinoja käytäntöön. Kirja on täysin uudistettu laitos aikaisemmin ilmestyneestä, innostuneen vastaanoton saaneesta ADHD-aikuisen selviytymisoppaasta.
