3. Can I Give My Husband Back?

A totally laugh out loud and uplifting page turner
Kristen Bailey
Genre: Romance
Price: £0.99
Publish Date: 19 June 2020
Publisher: Bookouture
Seller: StoryFire Ltd

‘The BEST book I have read for a long time! A book has never made me laugh like this one... Made me laugh until I couldn’t breathe, I had tears rolling down my face and I had to force myself to put it down for a bit to recover. This book has it all: it’s laugh-until-you-risk-passing-out funny, it made me cry, the characters are highly relatable and I loved every second of it… If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!’ Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   It’s normal to prefer getting a filling at the dentist to spending time with your husband, right?   I thought I was sorted on the life front. I was a heart surgeon with a loving partner and two gorgeous little girls. Except my husband’s version of ‘loving’ is lying, cheating and sleeping his way around London. Which means I definitely deserve a refund.   Unfortunately, moving on isn’t that simple. Just because I know how to operate on a heart doesn’t mean I know how to fix my broken one. Plus, I lost the receipt for him years ago so I’m definitely getting short changed.   But now I’m single, am I ready to mingle? There are a few minor issues:   1)   The last time I went on a date double denim was in fashion and my eyebrows were horrendously overplucked. 2)   Men wear stupidly skinny jeans now. 3)   I don’t know how to use dating apps but at least I don’t have to get changed out of my pyjamas. 4)   Sometimes the most promising thing you have in common with a guy is a shared love of prawns. 5)   I don’t know whether to open a date with ‘hi’ or ‘hello’ or ‘hey’ and once I ended up saying ‘howdy’. Everything happens for a reason, they say. There’s plenty more fish in the sea. But what happens when everything falls apart and you haven’t got a clue how to go fishing?   An absolutely hilarious and utterly relatable tale for anyone who has ever survived a nightmare relationship, felt a little lonely or nursed a broken heart with wine and carbs. This feel-good novel will get you back on your feet and genuinely laughing out loud. Perfect for fans of Why Mummy Drinks , Sophie Ranald and Sophie Kinsella.   Readers absolutely love Can I Give My Husband Back? :   ‘ OMG … LOVED IT!!! … Just pure LOL all the way through … A MUST-READ for when you could do with a laugh!’ The Book Girls , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ Oh my goodness … Made me laugh so much my sides hurt … Definitely the pick-me-up and anxiety-buster I needed .’ Little Miss Book Lover 87 , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ Brilliant … It’s not often that a proclaimed “laugh out loud” book makes me do so , yet laugh out loud I did .’ NetGalley Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ Had me chuckling out loud and I think I almost actually jumped off my chair at one point .’ This Hannah’s Life   ‘ Had me in stiches .’ B for Bookreviewer , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ Jam packed with so so many laugh out loud moments, honestly I just couldn’t stop laughing. Also I found this very easy to read and it only took me 2 days to read, it was that good I just flew through it! ’ Jessica Book Biz , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ An unputdownable, hilarious and over-the-top read that entertained me for a whole day non-stop … Really got me laughing out loud .’ Roving Book Worm   ‘ Fantastic … My belly hurts from laughing .’ NetGalley Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ Hilarious! ... I loved every second of this book .’ Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ I absolutely loved this book! It reminds me of Bridget Jones but better if that's possible.’ The Book Club Africa , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ I laughed and laughed my way through this book from start to finish!! … I’ve never found a character that I’ve found so funny as what Lucy is!! … I rolled from one laugh straight to into another one! … An absolute belter of a book!!! I loved this book so much I finished it in a day – I think that tells you everything you need to know!! Fab, fab, fab!! ’ Stardust Book Reviews , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   ‘ I finished it in a mere few hours because I didn’t want to put it down … I haven’t laughed this much while reading a book in a long time! … My only regret is that I devoured it so quickly … This is the perfect book to settle down and relax with on a particularly stressful day. (Or any day really! No matter how you’re feeling, this book is wonderful and you need to read it OK? OK) .’ Reading in Autumn   ‘ Hilarious, laugh-a-minute read! Had me chuckling aloud as I read, much to the consternation of my husband! Frank, funny and full of relatable family dynamics!… A real laugh-out-loud read of a book that I devoured in a day! ’ Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

‘Absolutely brilliant!… After months of struggling to find another author I love as much as I love Sophie Kinsella I have found her!… I devoured this book in a few hours because it was impossible to put down… Packed full of laughs… Had me laughing all the way through.’ Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   I almost gave up on love. My ex, who called his private parts ‘Nigel’, was enough to put me off men forever. But then I met Joe.   Alice thought she’d found Mr Right. Her blue-eyed boyfriend Joe gives her butterflies, makes her bacon sandwiches when she’s hungover, and doesn’t have a nickname for any of his body parts.   She should have known it was too good to be true. Because one day, Alice and Joe bump into Zoe . According to him, Zoe’s ‘just an old friend’. But Alice saw the way they froze, and heard the strange note in Joe’s voice when he said her name.   Then, out of the blue, Zoe needs a place to live. And Joe has the bright idea of inviting her, and her fluffy ginger cat, Frazzle, to stay with them.   Alice tries her hardest not to feel threatened. But the thing is, Zoë doesn’t survive off microwave meals, or go days without washing her glossy copper-coloured hair, or accidentally get mascara in her contact lenses.   Joe’s ex might be pretty much perfect, but there’s no way that Alice will let Zoe steal him. She’s on a mission to prove that three (four, if you count the cat) is definitely a crowd… This fabulous, feel-good page-turner is for anyone who has ever got a little too drunk and checked out their partner’s ex! (We’ve all been there…) Fans of romantic comedies by Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey Kelk, and TV shows like  Crazy Ex-Girlfriend  and  Jane the Virgin , will love this utterly relatable read. In this book, he provides twelve profound and practical principles for how to live a meaningful life, from setting your house in order before criticising others to comparing yourself to who you were yesterday, not someone else today. ‘One of the funniest books I have read. Ever!… I absolutely LOVED this book and I just know that it’s going to be in my top books of the year!’ Star Crossed Reviews , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   It’s normal for your washing machine to get more action than you, right?   I wake up, bleary-eyed.   It’s been two years, six months and three hours since I last shaved my legs, and the llama-patterned knickers I’m wearing have seen better days.   We have seven minutes before the kids wake up, and my husband shuffles closer. ‘Ouch,’ he says, a piece of Lego sticking into his back.   Then, a light comes on in the landing. Small footsteps creep down the stairs. A little voice screams, ‘IS SOMEONE COMING TO MAKE BREAKFAST?!’   All hope of having some ‘alone time’ is replaced with wondering if we’ve run out of Cheerios, thinking about the overflowing laundry, and remembering that I forgot to take out the recycling. Again.   Just a typical Monday morning for the Morton family…   Except today, when I go downstairs in my dressing gown, I find something. Something belonging to my husband. Something that definitely wasn’t in the wedding vows. And it’s either going to make us… or break us.   An utterly hilarious and unmissable novel for anyone who has ever felt like they spend more time washing the dishes than getting lucky. THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER 'A beacon of hope for a frighted world' DANNY DORLING 'This is the book we need right now' TELEGRAPH 'It'd be no surprise if it proved to be the Sapiens of 2020' GUARDIAN It's a belief that unites the left and right, psychologists and philosophers, writers and historians. It drives the headlines that surround us and the laws that touch our lives. From Machiavelli to Hobbes, Freud to Dawkins, the roots of this belief have sunk deep into Western thought. Human beings, we're taught, are by nature selfish and governed by self-interest. Humankind makes a new argument: that it is realistic, as well as revolutionary, to assume that people are good. The instinct to cooperate rather than compete, trust rather than distrust, has an evolutionary basis going right back to the beginning of Homo sapiens. By thinking the worst of others, we bring out the worst in our politics and economics too. In this major book, internationally bestselling author Rutger Bregman takes some of the world's most famous studies and events and reframes them, providing a new perspective on the last 200,000 years of human history. From the real-life Lord of the Flies to the Blitz, a Siberian fox farm to an infamous New York murder, Stanley Milgram's Yale shock machine to the Stanford prison experiment, Bregman shows how believing in human kindness and altruism can be a new way to think – and act as the foundation for achieving true change in our society. It is time for a new view of human nature.

‘Extraordinary’ Daily Mail As seen on BBC Breakfast Horrifying, heartbreaking and eye-opening, these are the stories, the patients and the cases that have characterised a career spent being a doctor behind bars. Violence. Drugs. Suicide. Welcome to the world of a Prison Doctor. Dr Amanda Brown has treated inmates in the UK’s most infamous prisons – first in young offenders’ institutions, then at the notorious Wormwood Scrubs and finally at Europe’s largest women-only prison in Europe, Bronzefield. From miraculous pregnancies to dirty protests, and from violent attacks on prisoners to heartbreaking acts of self-harm, she has witnessed it all. In this eye-opening, inspirational memoir, Amanda reveals the stories, the patients and the cases that have shaped a career helping those most of us would rather forget. Despite their crimes, she is still their doctor. Reviews ‘Written with both humour and deep concern for the lives of her incarcerated patients. It’s a poignant, compassionate read, giving an insight into the complicated and damaged lives of some of the offenders … a thoroughly enlightening and engaging book.’ Mail on Sunday ‘A fascinating, sometimes funny, often gruelling account of working behind bars.’ Observer ‘Not only features startling anecdotes but also the more rewarding aspects of her job – the prisoners who sent her letters of thanks, the ones for whom there remains hope.’ i newspaper ‘eye-opening … harrowing … Though so many of the tales are unbearably sad, and some details quite difficult to read without flinching, frequent moments of hope and humanity mitigate what could otherwise be a bleak look at life on the lowest rung of society’s ladder.’ The Telegraph ‘All of the highs and lows of prison life, with heart-warming honesty and anecdotes to make your sides split and your jaw drop in equal measure … Amanda has filled her book full of funny tales that both she and the inmates have had a good giggle at.’ Sunday Express S Magazine ‘An enthralling account.’ The Sun About the author Dr Amanda Brown is a GP at the largest women-only prison in Europe, Bronzefield. Written in 1948, 1984 was George Orwell’s chilling prophecy about the future. And while 1984 has come and gone, his dystopian vision of a government that will do anything to control the narrative is timelier than ever... Winston Smith toes the Party line, rewriting history to satisfy the demands of the Ministry of Truth. With each lie he writes, Winston grows to hate the Party that seeks power for its own sake and persecutes those who dare to commit thoughtcrimes. But as he starts to think for himself, Winston can’t escape the fact that Big Brother is always watching... A startling and haunting vision of the world, 1984 is so powerful that it is completely convincing from start to finish. No one can deny the influence of this novel, its hold on the imaginations of multiple generations of readers, or the resiliency of its admonitions—a legacy that seems only to grow with the passage of time.

This box set includes the first three books in the ALIAS series: Stalked, Hunted, and Vanished. Stalked: Opposites attract, unfortunately. Rule follower, Federal US Deputy Marshal Alex Saunders has been assigned to protect a federal judge after the judge receives death threats. This detail is standard until the judge insists on his son’s PR firm provide backup security, which isn’t even in the rule book. But because Alex is already in hot water, he follows orders to keep the judge happy. Rule breaker, and former CIA analyst, Kita Kim reluctantly agrees to go undercover, posing as the judge’s aide slash girlfriend, but in return she expects her boss at ALIAS to help her protect an abused woman and her nieces even though technically keeping the children from their father is against the law. From the very start, Alex and Kita disagree about everything. But their sizzling attraction continues to grow as the threats against the judge escalate and put them all in danger. Can these two opposites find enough common ground outside the bedroom, or will their diverse philosophies result in disaster? Hunted: There’s only one thing worse than seeing your unrequited crush every day at the office…and that’s getting trapped with him in a snowy mountain cabin. Maria Torres has been through hell and back. A former kidnapping victim, she’s used to being famous for all the wrong reasons and having people handle her with kid gloves. And it seems that the man of her dreams, Dwayne Lameko, is no different. So when an ALIAS client requests her presence on an op, Maria believes she’s ready to spread her wings and prove all her co-workers wrong…especially Dwayne. But when danger follows them into the wilderness, Maria has no choice but to prove to herself and Dwayne that she’s strong enough to handle anything…even his love. Maria Torres was first introduced in the Family Stone series, Still the One. She finally gets her happily ever after.  Vanished: He’ll do anything to find his brother's killer…. His final opportunity… On an unsanctioned mission, Scottish NCA officer Hamish Ballard tracks his brother's killer across the ocean…until he hits a dead end at Adams-Larsen Inc and Associates, a supposed PR company. Owner Jillian Larsen knows more than she admits, and he'll do anything to uncover her secrets, even fake an interest her. He’s got one week to complete his goal. But his attraction is all too real and using her when she was just a name in a report was easy, but now he's falling hard for his foe. Her first responsibility… Jillian Larsen's purpose in life is helping people who are in jeopardy disappear and she has never betrayed a client. When a Scottish hottie accuses her company of hiding a criminal, she has no intention of revealing her client’s whereabouts or giving in to her inconvenient attraction for the sexy pain in her ass. But what does she do if the woman she relocated turns out to be a criminal? When her business partner vanishes along with their complicit client, can she use Hamish to track them down without risking her heart? Their only chance… He needs her resources. She needs his intelligence. Working together is the only logical choice, but it means jeopardizing everything.

' The Vanishing Half is an utterly mesmerising novel. It seduces with its literary flair, surprises with its breath-taking plot twists, delights with its psychological insights, and challenges us to consider the corrupting consequences of racism on different communities and individual lives. I absolutely loved this book' Bernardine Evaristo, winner of the Booker Prize 2019 The Vignes twin sisters will always be identical. But after growing up together in a small, southern black community and running away at age sixteen, it's not just the shape of their daily lives that is different as adults, it's everything: their families, their communities, their racial identities. Ten years later, one sister lives with her black daughter in the same southern town she once tried to escape. The other secretly passes for white, and her white husband knows nothing of her past. Still, even separated by so many miles and just as many lies, the fates of the twins remain intertwined. What will happen to the next generation, when their own daughters' story lines intersect? Weaving together multiple strands and generations of this family, from the Deep South to California, from the 1950s to the 1990s, Brit Bennett produces a story that is at once a riveting, emotional family story and a brilliant exploration of the American history of passing . Looking well beyond issues of race, The Vanishing Half considers the lasting influence of the past as it shapes a person's decisions, desires, and expectations, and explores some of the multiple reasons and realms in which people sometimes feel pulled to live as something other than their origins. Praise for Brit Bennett: 'A writer to watch' Washington Post 'Bennett allows her characters to follow their worst impulses, and she handles provocative issues with intelligence, empathy and dark humour' New York Times 'A beautifully written, sad and lingering book' Guardian on The Mothers

Mark Manson
Genre: Self Help
Price: £6.99
Publish Date: 13 September 2016
Publisher: Harper
Seller: HarperCollins Publishers

#1 New York Times Bestseller Over 1 million copies sold In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people. For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F**k positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited—"not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault." Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek. There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. ONE OF STYLIST 'S BEST NEW BOOKS FOR 2020 'Unforgettable' MARLON JAMES 'It made me ugly cry' JESSIE BURTON 'Glorious' RACHEL JOYCE 'Spellbinding' ANDRÉ ACIMAN Meet the Ramdin-Chetan family: forged through loneliness, broken by secrets, saved by love. Irrepressible Betty Ramdin, her shy son Solo and their marvellous lodger, Mr Chetan, form an unconventional household, happy in their differences, as they build a home together. Home: the place where your navel string is buried, keeping these three safe from an increasingly dangerous world. Happy and loving they are, until the night when a glass of rum, a heart to heart and a terrible truth explodes the family unit, driving them apart. Brave and brilliant, steeped in affection, Love After Love asks us to consider what happens at the very brink of human forgiveness, and offers hope to anyone who has loved and lost and has yet to find their way back.
